MASK

I'd like to express thanks to you for finally coming clean
by bringing up the other night and what it didn't mean
your "carnal urge"..."means to an end"
but yes, that's right, I'm "just a friend"
the plan I'd planned within was something
you could never see
You entertained your passion and your love I did devour
and when we had "the talk" you tried to blame it on the hour
so why'd you whisper in my ear?
why'd you press yourself so near?
did you not think about the way impulsion makes things sour?
My love is unconditional for you-it will not end
If that's what makes you happy then I'm proud to be a "friend"
Just don't cross that undrawn line
Respect the bond and we'll be fine
It's YOU that talks of love and how it's often just pretend
I won't try to convince you cause if you don't see it now
I'm not sure you will ever see or understand
just how happy I would make you
I'd rise above and take you
through a lifetime full of laughter.
It would be my solemn vow
Now it's time to move on
and leave these thoughts right here
my heart can be conditioned
and there's no need left to fear
I may have to pretend
I only love you as a "friend"
It may stay alive inside
but will seem dead when you are near

Sonnet #359

While travelling on a Spiritual Plain,
Significance came to esteem each name.
It watched as well meaning unknowing exclaimed.
How verbal digression inflicts it pain.
Too often we focus on useless refrains,
And miss altogether the ones that sustain.
We bypass the sun, and fix on the rain.
Attention the light of far greater gain.
What would have happened to each noted great,
If they chose to believe in a common slate?
Give credence to your distinguished estate.
Ignore the flesh, let the Spirit train.
Reach for the distinction that is yours to claim.

2002 - Sandra Hatch

She

She was cold
ill-tempered
a brat
Anger raged inside her
No colours, no sounds
Trapped in her silent world

Then a Light,
her Godsend-the Miracle Worker
sparked a bright glow in her young-girl heart
Understanding caught hold of her and she craved,
yearned
longed for more and more and more
and more

Nothing could quench her thirst
delicious sensations ebbed and flowed through her
Illuminating the fibers of her soul

She
overcame her tremendous obstacles
a hero
My hero
She

Untitled

I saw you smile that charming smile
You know you caught my glance
That charming smile, that wretched smile,
My heart, it had no chance.

You took my hand and I took yours
We floated along the danceroom floors
By then our hearts were screaming roars
And I knew by then my heart was yours

I have you now, so glad by now
Our song fills up my heart
I feel it's wonder take me away
To love I'm sure it has lead

I feel my heart just getting there
For love it takes alot of care
You feel it in my eyes, my hair
I cannot escape your puppy-dog stare

Hold me close and please don't leave
I want you here to stay with me
I beg and plead and cry and scream
Although I know that cannot be

I sob and laugh just thinking of you
I hope you feel the same way too
If you feel as strongly as I do
Your heart is an emotional zoo.

I wrote this poem just for you
To tell you how I feel
Please let's keep this going
Let's keep this true love real.

EMOTIONAL FEELINGS

How many ounces make up one emotion?
One little tear holds more than mere anecdotes
Who will study the psychology in one drop?
The feelings only spill out in liquid form
Happiness and Sadness sum it all up
But let's look deeper on this volcanic soul.
Pure joy and true love, complete peace
too spiritually bearable for a body of flesh
a scream or a jolt of laughter accompanies this birth
Hard work has paid off.
What a relief to cry out.
Pure sorrow and true guilt, lingering shadows
too physically bearable for a heart of gold
a cry or a jolt of pain accompanies this loss
Idleness has paid off.
What a relief to cry out.
Regard the release of this waterfall!
Once you feel it arriving there's no escape.
Savour each memory, then let it go.
There's no shame in dropping burdens
But there is shame in wasting love.
